In honor of Kanye West's release of 808's & Heartbreak CD (in stores right now), I give you a cornacoupia of links to hot joints and videos I'm checking out right now. Clickety-click away!
Kanye West gets animated in his new Hype Williams-directed video for "Heartless." According to Yeezy (via his blog), the clip was "Rotoscoped." It's a animation process in which live-action is recorded and animators hand draw every movement frame by frame. "[I was] inspired by the movie American Pop," says Kanye. "Hype showed me the movie and I was sold."
Backed by a live band, former Young Gunz rapper Young Chris spits bars about the highs and lows of his rap career in this very interesting low-fi music video.
Check out rock band Framing Hanley's knarley reworking of Lil' Wayne's ubitiqous 2008 hit, "Lollipop." This is the best rock cover of Weezy's song I've heard this year.
"Where Are They Now?" R&B crooner Case comes out of hiding and sings the praises of beautiful black women in his "Lovely" music video.
Another beautiful video is Deborah Cox's clip for "Beautiful U R." The pregnant songbird looks scrumptious -- big belly and all. Deborah makes preganacy look good. Ladies, holla at cha boy if you are looking to get preggers. ;-P
