Although Mos Def didn't win a Best Rap Album Grammy for his stellar 2009 disc The Ecstatic (Eminem won it for Relapse), the versatile rapper's critically-acclaimed LP have been curated for public consumption.
Photographs taken while Mos Def was recording The Ecstatic are currently on display for a week in Los Angeles as part of the Ecstatic Moments Exhibition.
Photographer-filmmaker Cognito followed the rapper-actor for much of the recording process and captured some exclusive flicks. Among the photographs included are photos from Mos Def's studio sessions, his trips to South Africa and Brazil, as well as "end-of-the-night" posse shots featuring Talib Kweli, Erykah Badu and Jay Electronica on his U.S. summer tour.
In conjunction with the exhibit, a limited-edition T-shirt was created in partnership with Los Angeles boutique UNION.
You can cop the $38 "Ecstatic Tee" HERE. (Hurry up! There are only a few T-shirts left!)
