It's A 'Beautiful' Thing

Green But Not Envy: Vivian Green 'Call' Girl: Jill Scott

Two of the most-played songs on Urban Adult Contemporary radio stations are by two soulful songbirds from Philadelphia -- Vivian Green and Jill Scott.

Vivian Green has the touching ballad, "Beautiful," while Jill has the tearjerking song, "Hear My Call." In both of these piano-driven songs, the ladies sing about being on the losing end of love.

Ironically, both songbirds have detailed their real life break-ups to the media.

In 2005, Vivian talked to Tavis Smiley about ending her  "negative" relationship with her then-boyfriend after the birth of their son, Jordan. Meanwhile, Jill revealed to Essence magazine last year that she and her then-fiancé, drummer Lil' John Roberts, separated after the birth of their son, Jett Hamilton Roberts.

Rather than be bitter about their failed relationships, Vivian and Jill used their pain to write reflective songs on love and heartbreak. And with their soaring voices, they have triumphantly recorded two of the best R&B songs of the new year, so far. If you are going through a painful break-up, these two songs should help you through the healing process.
