Long-standing grievences between Little Brother and 9th Wonder came ahead over the weekend when LB member Phonte Coleman posted a heated response (via video) to 9th Wonder's tweets about the group's demise (circa post-Minstel Show album).
Rap website HipHopDX detailed the blow-by-blow account of what happened on Twitter, which led to Phonte's video. Read it HERE.
To sum it up, Phonte wanted to add an unreleased 9th Wonder-produced song called "Star" -- which was recorded after Minstrel Show album was released -- as a bonus track to LB's upcoming disc LeftBack. Apparently, when the duo ask 9th for permission, the Grammy award-winning producer refused. This made Phonte angry and he decided to release "Star" as a free download instead. This prompted 9th to make a few comments ("tweets) on Twitter about the group's separation and then a lot of bickering ensued between Phonte and 9th. Finally, to set the record straight, Phonte posted this video:
Here's the Tweet about the "Star" track from Phontigallo:
This was recorded back in '05-06 at Young Guru's crib sometime after the release of Minstrel Show. This was intended for LeftBack as an iTunes bonus track but we just got word today that @9thwondermusic doesn't want us to use it for whatever reason, and that's fine. In any event, I'm not gonna let anything or anybody stop me from getting music to my fans. Fuck that. Enjoy. And as always, thank you for listening.
