Update: Excuse The Mess . . .

Building Notice

Still working on the redesign of this blog-turned-official website. I'm creating a new banner and streamlining the right and left sidebars. It's not much, but I want my website to look visually appealing in the new year.

My posts will be sporadic through January.

Thank you for your patience.

The posse track will appear on Kida's mixtape project The Redshirt Freshman, which is due out March 2001.

Jay Electronica Mountain Dew Code Red Commercial

Suit Up: Jay Electronica

Wow! And the Jay Electronica promotional train starts . . . right now!

Jay Elect appears in a new commercial for Mountain Dew Code Red, which features the cool tagline, "Hip-Hop Is Different on the Mountain." The ad utilizes Jay Electronica's song "The Announcement" and was filmed at club One Eyed Jacks in the rapper's hometown of New Orleans. "This is the first time I've done something . . . of this magnitude," Jay Electronica told Miss Info. "I'm pretty excited about it."

New Video: Murs & 9th Wonder - "I Used To Love Her (Again)"

Beats & Rhymes: Murs

Murs updates Common's metaphoric hip-hop ode "I Used to Love H.E.R." in his new video for "I Used to Love Her (Again)." In the clip, which was directed by Jon Mazyck, the Los Angeles emcee reflects on the direction that hip-hop took through the mid '90s -- particularly during the rise of gangsta rap and G-Funk -- to the present day.

The song is from Murs & 9th Wonder's collaborative LP Fornever.

For the sample-digging fanatics, Wonder sampled Detroit soul group Black Nasty's "I Must Be in Love" from their 1973 album Talking to the People (via Stax Records).

New Music: Rapper Big Pooh - "Zone Out"

In The Zone: Rapper Big Pooh

We haven't heard any solo music from Rapper Big Pooh since the release of Little Brother's swan album Leftback and his outstanding mixtape project The Purple Tape in January.

This is the first single from the as-of-yet-released mixtape Fat Boy Fresh, Vol. 1. The collection is hosted by producer Statik Selektah and mixed by DJ Flash. Zone out to this joint.
