New Music: The Game - Purp & Patron: The Hangover (Mixtape)

Drink Up: P&P Mixtape Cover

In a previous post, I raved about the Game's 2-disc mixtape project Purp & Patron. The collection boasts several great songs and features. In my opinion, Purp & Patron is an early candidate for Best Mixtape of the Year.

Now the Game and DJ Skee are back with more music with the follow-up Purp & Patron: The Hangover. Like the previous effort, there a few gems that standout. I listed below a few tracks that caught my ear.

The Game -- "The Hangover" (Produced by Mars)

The Game -- "Yung Stunna" (Featuring Birdman)

The Game -- "Get Familiar" (Featuring Timbaland)

New Music: Money Making Jam Boys (MMJB) -- "Day Job"

Jam On It: MMJB Cover Art

The Money Making Jam Boys -- Black Thought, Dice Raw, P.O.R.N., Truck North and STS -- have teamed up with clothing company 10Deep to release their first mixtape The Prestige: Jam Boy Magic (due Feb. 3). The collection, mixed by Mick Boogie and Terry Urban, will feature production work from Frank Knuckles and ?uestlove with scratches from the legendary DJ Jazzy Jeff. You can cop the Prestige mixtape for download at on Feb. 3.

MMJB let loose "Day Job" for your enjoyment. Sadly, Black Thought is not on this banging track, but the rest of the Jam Boys do their thing. Props!

New Music: Ayatollah - "Funky Fresh" (Instrumental)

Ayatollah: Fingertips

Producer Ayatollah will drop his eighth instrumental album Fingertips on Feb. 1 via digital stores only. For the vinyl heads, the veteran beatmaker will release a 2-LP vinyl version of the album on Feb. 22 (you can pre-order it HERE).

In the meantime, check out this new instrumental track from 'Tollah. And for my sample fiends, it sounds as if Ayatollah sampled The Five Stairsteps' 1969 song "We Must Be in Love" and not The Impressions 1970 remake, which J Dilla sampled on "Love" (featuring Pharoahe Monch).

The beat is definitely fresh. Take a listen:

New Music: Mystikal - "Uh Oh"

Oh 'Boy': Rapper Mystikal

Mystikal hasn't lost his step since being release from prison last year. I have posted a few tracks from him and he still sounds lyrically sharp as ever.

Still riding on his comeback wave, the New Orleans spitfire drops this sensual joint "Uh Oh" featuring up-and-coming singer-songwriter Jazelle Paris (peep her Twitter page). The slow thudding beat was produced by Mannie Fresh.

Mark my words: Mystikal's comeback album is going to be a monster in 2011.

New Video: Nicki Minaj - "Moment 4 Life" (F/ Drake)

Queen Bee: Nicki Minaj

Nick Minaj's new video for "Moment 4 Life" is really dope. I love the video's Cinderella theme of fairy godmothers, diamond slippers and stylish gowns. The term "Cinderella" also is often used to metaphorically describe someone who unexpectedly achieves success after years of being in obscurity. That perfectly fits Nick Minaj and her rise in the rap game. By the way, Pink Friday has been certified platinum (1 million shipped in the United States).

In the Chris Robinson-directed clip, the Queen of Hip-Hop meets and weds her Prince of Hip-Hop -- that would be rapper-singer Drake. This one is for the books. Chapter and verse. Ha!
