New Video: Murs - "'67 Cutlass" (Produced by Ski Beatz)

Ridin' Dirty: Rapper Murs

When was the last time you heard a rapper tell an interesting life story in a rap song? Yeah, it's been a long time. Los Angeles rapper Murs brings his "'67 Cutlass" song to life in this funny video, which was directed by Hobo Stew. The clip details the crazy story of Murs' road trip to Arizona that involves 2 pounds of skunk and a pig in the trunk. Stick around for the surprise ending, as well.

The song is from Murs and Ski Beatz's collaborative album Love & Rockets Vol. 1: The Transformation.

Big ups to 24-Hour Karate School.

New Video: Common - "Celebrate"

Party Guy: Common

With only a couple of weeks before we celebrate 2012, rapper Common invites friends over to his house party in a new video for his latest single, "Celebrate." If you look closely, you will recognize a couple of bloggers and celebrities enjoying the festivities.

Don't forget to pick up Common's new album The Dreamer/The Believer on Dec. 20.

New Video: Producer Bei Maejor Creates A Beat Out Of Christmas

A Maejor Christmas

I know I have been slacking with the postings here on Beats and Rants, but my freelancing gig at PopCrush.com is keeping a brotha very busy. Plus, with the holidays upon us, I need some scrilla for gifts.

Speaking of Christmas, Grammy-nominated producer Bei Maejor comes through with a video of him making a beat out of motifs from Christmas. Maejor uses jingle bells, candy canes, a nutcracker(*PAUSE*), soda, a bass drum and keyboards to create his yuletide beat for "Carol of the Bells." Very creative, indeed.

Merry Christmas!

New Music: Apollo The Great - "Camden State Of Mind"

It's Showtime!: Rapper Apollo the Great

Rap newcomer Apollo the Great comes from my native hometown of Camden, NJ, and has been generating a huge buzz for himself lately. On this freestyle, he gives us his view of the gritty streets of Camden over Nas' rap ode "N.Y. State of Mind" (from his classic LP Illmatic). Apollo is prepping a deluxe version of his album Apollo 21, which hits iTunes in 2012. Keep an eye and ear out for this guy.
