Swizz Beatz In the Fast Lane in "Street Knock" Video Featuring A$AP Rocky

Swizz Beatz and A$AP Rocky

Swizz Beatz is in the driver's seat of his Lotus vehicle breaking the speed limit in his new video for "Street Knock." Harlem's own A$AP Rocky is also featured in the video stunting hard in his Jeremy Scott gear and flashing his gold fronts. I think I saw former 76'ers b-baller Allen Iverson in the clip, as well. Got-dammit!

I'm not going to front, I'm loving Swizzy's Rottweiler T-shirt. Anyway, check out the Taj-directed video below

New Music: Ab-Soul - "ILLuminate" (Featuring Kendrick Lamar)

Ab-Soul LP Control System

Black Hippy rapper Ab-Soul drops another stellar track from his new album Control System, which drops this Friday (May 11). The Skhye Hute-produced track features a slew of hip-hop quotables from both Ab-Soul and K.Dot.

Ab-Soul's spits on his second verse, "I use to want to rap like Jay-Z / Now I feel like I can run laps around Jay-Z / Now you haven't seen nothin' this nasty / B.I.G. and 'Pac got it commin' when I pass, too." Whoa.

Peep the the interesting cover art above of Ab-Soul's album. It's a Jesus fish placed into the center of the ten-pronged structure of the Sephirot, which is the 10 metaphysical attributes expressed in the Kabbalah (also known as the "Illuminate"). Yep, Ab-Soul is not your average rapper. Check out the track below.

New Video: Slum Village - "God Sent" + "Hunger" (F/ Illa J + Vice + Focus. . .)

Slum Village

Slum Village rapper T3 brings in fellow SV affiliates Illa J, Vice and Focus. . . in this video medley for "God Sent" and "Hunger." The tracks appear on the Mick Boogie/Slum Village mixtape Dirty Slums.

Not my favorite song from the collection (that would be "Fresh" and "They Don't Know") but it should feed hip-hop heads who are starving for some of that boom-bap rap.

New Music: Meek Mill - "Amen" (Featuring Drake + Jeremih)

Dreamchasers II Cover

I'm a little late on this one but it's a dope song, so I had to post it.

Philly rapper Meek Mill spits his street scriptures on "Amen," which also features R&B crooner Jeremih on the chorus and a good rap cameo from Drake.

On the track, Rev. Mill thanks his Savior for his good fortunes and the pretty ladies that come along with it.

"I'm stackin' money to the ceiling / All these ice in my rollie I be chillin' / And I just made a couple million / So I could take care of them children, let's go," he raps.

Preach. Church. Tabernacle.

You can hear more ghetto gospels from Meek Mill on his new mixtape Dreamchasers (Part II), which hits the Internet(s) this week.

New Video: Beastie Boys x LL Cool J Live in London (1986)

Beastie Boys

In tribute to the late Adam Yauch (aka MCA), London DJ Tim Westwood posted this rare video of the Beastie Boys going berserk onstage at the 1986 Raising Hell Tour featuring Run-DMC, LL Cool J and Whodini.

During the trio's performance of 'Slow and Low," MCA jumped into the audience to crowd surf and falls straight to the ground (I don't think the Londoners were familiar with crowd surfing at the time). No worries, he got up and was able to continue with his performance. And yep, that's a young and scrappy Lyor Cohen jumping into the fray as a couple of dudes were about to fight with MCA.

It was certainly a wild night. Props to Tim Westwood for posting this classic footage.

Rest in Power to MCA!
