New Music: Beanie Sigel - "The Reunion" (Featuring State Property)

The Reunion Cover

Before Beanie Sigel goes to jail to serve his two-year sentence on tax-evasion charges, he reunites with his State Property crew for the street-certified head-banger, "The Reunion."

The beat knocks for days and will certainly garner instant rewinds (Someone post the instrumental to this joint!). If you are an old-school hip-hop head, the breakbeat should be familiar to you. It's from Sly & the Family Stone's classic song "You Can Make It If You Try" (use famously by the Jungle Brothers on "Because I Got It Like That").

The Philly bully and ex-members of State Property (Young Chris, Freeway, Peedi Crack, Omillio Sparks) spit some gritty rhymes on this track. Early!

Beanie Sigel will release his comeback album(?) This Time on the newly-reformed Ruffhouse Records label on Aug. 28. The Philadelphia-based company was one of the premier rap labels back in the 1990s, launching the careers of such hip-hop icons like the Fugees, Cypress Hill, Schoolly D, Kriss Kross, Lauryn Hill and the Goats (Ha!).

*BONUS*: Because I got it like that....
