New Video: Tupac Shakur Performs at Coachella Music Festival 2012

Tupac

During Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg's performance at Coachella Music Festival on Sunday (April 15), Tupac Shakur made a surprising appearance -- albeit via a hologram. The late rapper performed 'Hail Mary' and '2 Of Amerikaz Most Wanted' with Snoop Dogg. While some thought it was tacky and creepy to resurrect the late 2Pac onstage, I thought it was surreal and fucking amazing at the same time.

In addition, the late R&B crooner Nate Dogg was given a thoughtful tribute by Snoop Dogg.

Also making guest appearances during Dre and Snoop's set were 50 Cent, Eminem, Wiz Khalifa and Kendrick Lemar.

All and all, it was a gangsta party.

New Music: The Game - Purp & Patron (Mixtape)

Purp & Patron Mixtape

The Game just dropped a colossal double mixtape called Purp & Patron. The 29-track collection, hosted by DJ Skee and Funkmaster Flex, boasts a bountiful of collaborations with Lil Wayne, T-Pain, Lil Boosie, Rick Ross and more. Also included is a special remix to Wiz Khalifa's "Black and Yellow" with Snoop Dogg called "Purp & Yellow" in honor of the Los Angeles Lakers.

There's a lot of filler on the mixtape, but there are a few standout joints. The Nottz-produced "R.I.P. Story" features gangster posturing from Game over a violin-laden sample. T-Pain is known for his Auto-Tune, but he is also a formidable producer, as well. On "Khaki Suit," T-Peezy's eerie and thunderous productions is perfect for rolling around in your whip (car). Finally, Dr. Dre blessed the melodic "Soft Rhodes," which features Ashanti. Game does his best impression of Notorious B.I.G. on the track and he sounds just as charismatic as the late New York rapper.

Purp & Patron is a good teaser for Game's oft-delayed LP R.E.D. Album.

New Music: Wiz Khalifa - "Black & Yellow" (G-Mix) [F/ Snoop Dogg, Juicy J & T-Pain]

Black

Check out the official remix to Wiz Khalifa's Pittsburgh (Pa.) anthem "Black and Yellow." The "G-Mix" version features strong rap performances from Snoop Dogg, Three 6 Mafia's Juicy J and T-Pain. Peep Juicy J's X-Mas line: "I'mma bubble bee lit up like a crimas tree/ Drinking Hennessy, black, I'm from Tennessee."

I could do without T-Pain verse, otherwise, this song will get extra spins in my iPod. Expect to hear this joint played ad nasuem at your hottest New Year's Eve party on Dec. 31. And rightfully so, because Wiz's "Black & Yellow" was one of the biggest rap songs in 2010.
